Old sketches

Sorry it has been so long since I've posted. The whole point of this blog was to give me something to force me to sketch and sketch and sketch. Life recently has been full of...well... life. Lots of things happening. So this then is an old page out of my sketchbook that I still kinda like (which is quite a rarity let me assure you.) I should be back soon with all new stuff. Enjoy.

Krang

My son was recently given the first episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on DVD. The first series that came out in the 80's not the new show (which is total junk by the way). It's been fun to watch them again with him and while wafting in the nostalgia I'm also able to realize how ridiculous the show is (and consequently more funny). It's been a hoot. Also while watching it I realized how cool Krang (the evil emperor from dimensionX) is. There's just something cool about a giant talking brain sitting inside of a a big lumbering buffoon. So I had to draw him. Then I decided I would play with some color on him as well. I'll most likely keep detailing him for awhile. Or at least till I get bored and move onto something else. Enjoy.

Sumo Bee Color

Finally got around to coloring the sumo ninja bee for the work blog. I kind of like how he looks fuzzy like well...a bee. I'm afraid I'm getting addicted to how quickly one can do things on the computer. Enjoy.

sketches again

Went up on Saturday and met with Paul Linsley who was signing some of his books and giving sketches to people. Paul was a really nice guy and it was great to meet him and talk with him. As usual after having met someone and seen their work I go home and totally rip off their work. However, I am letting all of you know that these sketches are totally taken from Paul's work. I highly recommend you go and check out the original at highergroundpress.com. He's got some great books up there. There's something out there that I've been dying to draw for the past couple days so hopefully I'll get to that tonight and you all can see it tomorrow. enjoy.

The Ninja Bee

Hey all. The company I work for (Ninja Bee) has set up a fun little blog for drawing challenges every week. The first challenge was to draw a ninja bee. I wanted to go with something very far away from the company logo just for kicks. Feel free to go and check it out over at ninjabeechallenge.blogspot.com. Hopefully it will turn out really well. I will be posting most of the doodles I do for the ninja bee challenge here as well though (cause I just don't have time to keep 2 going at once.) Enjoy.

Back to the Pirate!

Man I've been slacking. Sorry folks. There's a big deadline at work this work and it's been eating all my time and energy. I did take a little bit of time to keep going on the pirate today though so I will share that with you. Hopefully more new and wonderful art wil be forthcoming. enjoy.

You've all felt the urge to go out and draw a stinky hobo so don't you dare judge me for giving into the temptation. Don't you judge me. What a good day.

More Mistborn Llamas!!

Here's the first image I did for the Mistborn Llama t-shirt. In theory this one is the front of the shirt and the other image is on the back. If not then we'll have 2 ideas for the shirts. Enjoy.

Mistborn Llamas

This is an image I did for a Tshirt design recently. It's loosely based on the book Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sandereson. I did the design for Brandon and a writing group he is in. The llama part is from another writer in the group and the bone dagger is from yet another writer in the group. All in all it was a fun project. The hardest part was definetly trying to work out some llama anatomy into these action poses. I did the project for a chance to read Mistborn before it was published and then a signed copy of the book when it came out and let me tell you I got the better end of that deal. The book is fantastic. Brandon has quickly become one of the writers who I will buy anything he puts out there (unless of course we barter more art for free books). I can't praise it enough. Go buy it right now. If you're skeptical about buying the book check out Brandon's website where he has plenty of free chapters and other goodies. I go there all the time to see what free junk I can get inbetween his published works. His site is www.brandonsanderson.com. Also while I'm plugging cool sites, the friend of mine who set me up with this cool gig is the guy who did the art for the maps in the mistborn book. He's one of the coolest guys I know and has a hilariously cool site. www.nethermore.com. Thanks for the help Isaac.
